Bikini(plan)

Inv. Bikini

Our Unit Question was called “how do inventors come up with ideas and create their inventions?” We all chose our inventions to research and try to answer the unit questions using any form they like: PowerPoint, video, music, art, or anything.
My chosen invention was a bikini. I thought it would be interesting and it is easy to answer the unit question if you have an invention like this. It is interesting, which means I might be even more motivated. If we do a lot of research, we can actually understand how important is it and how important the inventors idea was no matter what it is. When we started doing this I realized how everything we use changed us, and I’m learning a bit of how relevant it is to know who the inventor is and how he came up with the idea.
To present my idea, I’m going to be using a poster because it is easy and I’m better at presenting something using a poster, I think it’s is easy to understand too. My sources were simple because it had something to do with fashion, design.

These are the tests (for the poster):
Does it answer the unit question?
Are the recourses from acknowledged?
Can my project give me a good grade?
Are the inventions relevant?

How did bikini change through time?
Bikini was invented in the 40s, since then, it became fashion and influenced a lot of people. Nowadays, most women wear bikinis, some sports require bikinis. And still, people make money by coming up with new bikini styles.
Why are bikinis important?
Most women use bikini as a way of showing their beauty and it is easy to wear and carry.
Are there any problems with bikinis? The other reason why bikinis are important is because many sports need bikinis because they weigh less.
There are some people saying “good girls don’t wear bikinis” thinking that its wrong, especially some Christian people, of course other religious people like Muslims and Jews. Others say that age matters. Plus, culture matters too.
How did the inventor come up with the idea?
Louis Reard was a car engineer, at the same time, he owned his moms lingerie shop. And there was a competition where designers had to come up with the smallest swimsuits, then he came up with the idea when saw women rolling their swimsuits to get more sunburn. Since then, most of the women started wearing bikinis.
What’s the difference between bikinis and the typical swimsuits?
Typical swimsuits are kind of closed, and bikinis are much more open. Bikinis are light and it can be worn as fashion at the beach, but the other one is worn mostly in the swimming pools, especially for the professional people.
In the late 90s, people used bikinis to win competitions. When it comes to voting, men mostly voted for the team who were wearing bikinis, even though they were not playing very good. Since then, a lot of sports teams started wearing bikinis, plus, like I said before, it weighs less; it is easy to carry around.

New “versions” of bikini:
Bandini
Tankini
Camikini
Monogyny

Inventions and Inventors: Evaluation

Evaluation
Adjustable Weight (dumbbell)
The overall progress went well, the idea also. I think that I did a good job, but there were some problems too. Such as following the plan, designing, writing the progress down and coming up with a product which is realistic.
Designing the product was hard because in my mind, I have only one design of a weight which is just a typical one, so I had to check a lot of things like going through the internet to find the other designs. I didn’t really copy the designs on the internet; since our product is different I just took ideas. Then, I had enough ideas so, it became easy make other designs, which made me come up with the perfect design, which was our final design.
Following the plan was hard to, especially when I lost my presentation and then I had to start it again, so we didn’t have time to finish it, so we hurried a lot, then we realized that we are done, so we managed to do everything down, but we forgot about writing the progress. So, we had to write the changes and progress after finishing everything.
To make everything better, I’d try to not lose things, because it is the main reason why everything went wrong. And the survey, I think I surveyed only few people, if I could survey more people and get more ideas, I probably would do better than this.
Our idea was really realistic and the same time unique because not everyone would like to do a dumbbell for handicapped people. So the function and the way the whole thing is set up is easy to understand and very helpful. And some people also tried to do the similar thing, but only our of rock and plastic bags which wont weigh too much, but still, it’s the same idea.
The presentation went well, I think. The reason why I think it went well is because we explained everything we needed to, and the whole idea was easy too understand. Some people actually gave really good comments and they liked it a lot, which was a good thing to hear.
The AOI for this unit is human ingenuity, since it a man made “creation”. Even though it was an invention, but we made it better and we enjoyed it. So we kind of developed the dumbbell in other words. So we think by this invention, life can get easier, and especially health.
So the unit went well, and we learned a lot of things, and are group work was great.
